NHBRC Technical Assessment Preparation

Contractor Academy is an independent preparation platform for the NHBRC technical assessment. It exists to help home builders and technical staff work through the building knowledge the assessment draws on, using assessment-style questions and worked explanations rather than rote memorisation.

What the preparation covers

The question bank is organised into nine competency areas that reflect residential construction practice in South Africa.

How the preparation is structured

Every question is multiple choice with four options and one defensible answer. Each carries a short explanation of why the answer is correct, and a fuller explanation covering the technical principle, why the other options fail, and what the issue looks like on site.

Question difficulty is graded across foundational, intermediate and advanced, so preparation can start with definitions and move into application, defect diagnosis and sequence-of-work reasoning.

Free access and paid access

Three free practice tests of twelve questions each are available on registration — thirty-six questions in total. Full access is R699 once-off for 90 days, covering the complete 200-question bank. There is no automatic renewal and it is not a subscription.

The question bank is an online licence. It is not supplied as a downloadable or printable document.

What this is not

This is independent preparation material. It is not an official NHBRC examination, it does not reproduce NHBRC examination papers, and it is not endorsed by or accredited by the NHBRC. No assessment result is guaranteed.
