Roofing Quality Control Guide for Contractors
Roof construction quality controls covering approved design, trusses, bracing, restraint, underlays, coverings, flashing, drainage and handover evidence.
Use approved information
Roof geometry, member sizes, connections and bracing must follow approved design and supplier information. Site alterations to engineered components require approval.
Inspect delivery and storage
Check identification, damage and distortion on delivery. Store trusses and materials in a way that prevents moisture damage, instability and unintended loading.
Control erection and permanent bracing
Temporary stability is essential during erection. Permanent bracing, anchorage and restraint must be completed as designed, not treated as optional finishing work.
Build a continuous weather barrier
Underlays, tiles or sheets, ridges, valleys, penetrations, flashings and gutters must work together. Most leaks occur at interfaces, so inspect them before access becomes difficult.
Close out with records
Keep supplier details, approvals, inspection evidence, photographs and outstanding-item records. Confirm that defects are closed before ceilings conceal the work.
