Construction Subcontractor Management Guide
Control subcontractor selection, scope, onboarding, safety, quality, progress, payment, changes and close-out with clear evidence.
Prequalify according to risk
Assess legal status, capability, resources, competence, safety and quality performance, references and financial capacity in proportion to the work.
Define the complete scope
Clarify inclusions, exclusions, interfaces, drawings, specifications, programme, deliverables, rates, responsibilities and change rules before work starts.
Coordinate onboarding
Verify required appointments, induction, risk controls, competence, equipment and documents. Approval of paperwork should not replace field verification.
Monitor delivery objectively
Use progress records, inspections, nonconformities, instructions, meeting actions and commercial records. Address emerging problems early and consistently.
Close out properly
Reconcile work, defects, documents, warranties, handover records, variations and final account requirements before releasing retention or archiving the package.
