Cleaning Standard Operating Procedure Guide
Create practical cleaning SOPs that specify purpose, responsibility, equipment, chemicals, sequence, safety, quality checks and records.
Write for the person doing the task
Use plain language, logical steps and visual detail where useful. State the area, surface and result the procedure is intended to achieve.
Control products and equipment
Identify approved chemicals, dilution, compatibility, colour coding, PPE and equipment checks. Never encourage mixing products outside approved instructions.
Separate clean and dirty flow
Define preparation, isolation, cleaning direction, cloth or mop changes, waste handling and equipment decontamination to prevent cross-contamination.
Verify competence and outcome
Train through demonstration, observe performance and record assessment. Review the SOP when products, equipment, surfaces, hazards or client requirements change.
